City Buying More Land for Parks in Williamsburg?

Yesterday, we noted progress on East River State Park in Williamsburg. Today, we pass on word that New York City is "pursuing acquisition" of several large parcels of land to the north for another park. This includes a large parking lot next door and the huge Citistorage records storage warehouse on Kent Avenue between North 10th and North 11th streets. Here's the million dollar question: Will the city convert the Sanitation Garage immediately to the north to park use too? If not, this possible future green space is going to be a very funky place, and not because of the vibe. Especially on hot summer days like these.

Yes, the city will (is supposed to) convert the sanitation site. The real million dollar question is whether the city will be able to acquire the Bayside Fuel site to the north, which is also rezoned as park land. TransGas Energy wants it to be huge gas-fired plant, complete with Philip Johnson's (last?) design for a smokestack.
