Pomeranc on Allen: Hot Space Heaters, Hotter Sex

Given its current raw state, we didn't think that Jason Pomeranc's Thompson Hotel on Allen Street would have a model unit set up yet. But lo and behold, the picture above arrived in an email marked "Model Unit @ 190 Allen St." A quick glance at the website of still-employed decorator Dodd Mitchell shows similar photos. So what to make of this? Well, you know how local news affiliates always do those sweeps-week investigative reports where they take a black light to a hotel bed? Let's hope they avoid this building at all costs. It looks like the Beaver is not the only new pleasure palace in town.

What I like in particular is that if this is indeed the model room, with its unfurrled pillows, it appears to have been "slept" and "fucked" in already.

Nothing like pulling back the sheets and finding pubic hairs. Sign me up, I'm buyin.

When are they going to get moving on this thing. They took a year to put the foundation in and they are well into year two and they still haven't finished the facade. I project an opening date of spring 2010.

#3- i live down orchard and usually walk by this at least a couple times a day to and from work. don't judge by this picture, it's really old. most of the curtain wall is up, and the aluminum siding on the north and south sides is about 2/3's up the building. just this week they also opened up the sidewalk on Allen for the first time since construction started, so they're moving more inward and will probably start most of the interiors very soon.
as long as construction and funding continues, it should be open by the end of summer 2008 at the latest.

I learned early on that if you want to give your guests the feeling of exclusivity and luxury, you need to put a space heater on every nightstand. Ah, the orange glow....
