CurbedWire: Behind the Beaver's Marketing Change, Trump Going North?, Oro Tops Off

Tuesday, June 19, 2007, by Scott

UPPER WEST SIDEPerhaps not content to own 1 Central Park West, the Donald might be casting his eyes to the top of the thoroughfare. Says a tipster, "I am hearing from an executive at a large developer that Donald Trump is moving forward with plans to build a tower on the site of the gas station at the corner of CPW and 110th St." [CurbedWire Inbox]

2007_06_beaverhouse.pngFIDIMore on the Beaver marketing shakeup. An insider whispers, "The re-branding of Beaver House is the brainchild of Richard Pandiscio of Pandiscio Co. That's the graphics/brand development firm (40 Mercer, Soho Mews, 100 11th Avenue, 246W17, etc.) who suggesting taking the flagging NC-17 campaign back to his own original concept, not executed til now, of a witty and culture-y approach that wasn't prurient. The change in the marketing/branding preceded the arrival of Core Group, which is inheriting Corcoran's gig." [CurbedWire Inbox]

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYNConstruction at new development Oro Condos seems to be keeping pace with its hot sales office, with a tipster reporting, "I noticed that as of this week, Oro Condo in Downtown Brooklyn is 'flying the flag'. So it has been topped off, with the exception of the superstructure 'crest' on top." [CurbedWire Inbox]

It's about time that this project was handed over to the likes of Core. Have you seen their projects in the city? They are definitely on the front lines and are showing it all over! Watch the project take off!

Add me to the list of people who CANNOT FUCKING STAND this "FiDi" business. If you're gonna call the Financial District that, then why not just use an inane abbreviation for every neighborhood with two words and three or more syllables in its name?

I'll start:
Downtown Brooklyn = DoBro
Brooklyn Heights = BroHi
Spuyten Duyvil = SpuyDuy
Morningside Heights = MoHi
Carroll Gardens = CarGar
Howard Beach = HoBe
Brighton Beach = BriBe (hey, that actually works given the demographics)
Ozone Park = OPa (the new Greek hood?)
East Tremont = EaTre
Prospect Lefferts Gardens = ProLeGa (sounds like a medication for genital warts)

Ugh. Why would they go with Core? Core is TERRIBLE... it is like they WANT the project to fail. Going from Sunshine to Core is like going from Suck to Suck Worse.

I think anything new up in Harlem is GREAT, the City is expanding and everyone has to go someplace. the architecture up in Harlem is beautiful. The restaurants are amazing. Maybe someone should have the guts to open a bagel shop and a tastee delite, stop calling people names and come up and look around. I left Sutton Place for this and its wonderful! Ck out www.newnewyorker.com for lots of fun in MIDTOWN NORTH
