The Los Angeles-based architecture firm Marmol Radziner is a leader in innovative prefabricated housing, but it looks like they're going to have to reconsider their pricing strategy. Originally hoisted on the market in 2008 for $1.85M, the desert house in Desert Hot Springs, Calif., designed by principal Leo Marmol as a weekend getaway, has been successively price chopped all the way down to $849K without finding a buyer. Now, Marmol has decided on an even more aggressive strategy: a $599K price tag. That's an astounding 68 percent off the original asking price, but it puts the low-slung beauty more in line with its less architecturally significant local competition. Set on 7.5 acres for privacy, the three-bedroom, two-bath desert outpost has already seen its fair share of the lime light: it's been published upwards of 70 times.
