LAGUNA BEACH, CALIF.—The family of reality star Kristin Cavallari—who gained fame on MTV's wildly popular Laguna Beach and The Hills—has lost their ridiculously opulent Laguna mansion to foreclosure. The 7,100-square-foot ocean-view spread was listed for $13.9M back in 2009 but never sold, eventually leading to a public auction. Meanwhile, Cavallari has moved on, and in, with fiance Jay Cutler, the NFL quarterback. [Zillow Blog]

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA.—A Navy fighter jet on a training mission crashed into a dense residential neighborhood early this afternoon, completely leveling an apartment complex and setting fire to surrounding buildings. Remarkably, no one on the ground was killed in the incident and the pilots safely ejected before the plane went down. A dazed pilot apologized as he was rushed to the hospital: "I'm sorry for hitting your building." Gizmodo is live blogging with updates. [Gizmodo]

NEW CANAAN, CONN.—Philip Johnson's Glass House has a new director. Henry Urbach started in the position at the beginning of the month and will be the first director to live on the grounds of the famous modernist structure. He'll be taking up residence in Calluna Farms, the former farmhouse home of Johnson's partner David Whitney. The Architect's Newspaper popped in to interview Urbach and discuss his plans.
