Come, Live on the Set of Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom

Wes Anderson's warmly-received new flick, Moonrise Kingdom, hit theaters last weekend in all it's vintage WASPy glory. While the on-screen tale was centered around the fictional island of New Penzance, it was filmed, in part, on Prudence Island, R.I., a sparsely populated isle in Narragansett Bay. As in the film, the island is reached only by boat or plane and has very few full-time residents—88 according to the latest census. While the Prudence does have its fair share of classic Victorian architecture, the bright red house inhabited by Bill Murray's character is sadly not for sale, and probably doesn't exist. This waterfront cottage, built in 1960, will just have to do. While lacking in blue-blood architecture, this two-bed, two-bath house shares in the natural beauty of the island, resting just above the rocky shore, and is listed for just $390K.

? Prudence served as the filming location, but it was Fishers Island, N.Y. that served as much of the inspiration and a basis for the island's map. This classic sprawling summer "cottage" is closer to the Moonrise Kingdom aesthetic, with old school furnishings and a quirky private observatory. Listed for $3.5M, the 5,000-square-foot white house sits on more than 11 acres, with seven bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.

? The delightfully rural feel of New Penzance Island is echoed in the modern era on the islands of Maine. Islesboro, accessible from the mainland by ferry and plane, has been a casual escape for the rich since the Gilded Age. This shingle-style cottage dates from 1900 and includes eight bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. Better yet, it was designed by Maine's premier blue-blood architect, Fred Savage. The 5,000-square-foot house sits atop an acre of treed lawns with waterfront access and is listed for $1.475M.

? Of all the properties on this list, none so captures the topography of New Penzance as this nearly 10-acre plot on North Haven Island, Maine. Centered around a mid-1800s Cape and a rambling barn, the property has pine trees, meadows, and rocky bluffs spilling down to the sea. The remote tract is currently listed for $2.1M.

? Nestled right next to a rocky outcropping overlooking Penobscot Bay on Long Island, Maine, near Portland, the Nubble House boasts panoramic views of the bay. There are just two bedrooms and two baths tucked inside the unconventional structure, but the large expanses of glass and the unique location push the price to almost $1M.
