Squaw Valley Pioneers' Lovely, Legendary Home Asks $15M

Steeped in Squaw Valley lore, this 29-acre ranch may only feature a rather quaint 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath home, but it has a pedigree that will make any Lake Tahoe local take notice. According to the listing, the $15 million property has been "protected and thoughtfully tended by the legendary Poulsen family since the early 1940s." The founders of Squaw Valley, Wayne and Sandy Poulsen first moved to the region in 1943 and after buying more than 640 acres from the Southern Pacific Railroad, camped out on the original homestead site along Squaw Creek. They eventually owned over 2,000 acres of land in the region, but chose to build a house at this picturesque location with peak views, a meandering river, and eventually, a gorgeous pool house. History aside, the property oozes classic ski charm and a little bit of kitsch. Large stone fireplaces, massive redwood beams, and plenty of bear hides may not make for the most modern of spaces, but who cares, this is the stuff of ski legends.
