Sweden's Icehotel Will Harness the Power of the Sun to Never Melt

New, 2 comments

The Icehotel in Sweden, which has been operating for more than a quarter of a century, is made out of 1,000 blocks of ice and overall it's pretty great. If there is one drawback, however, it's that the darn thing keeps melting and they have to rebuild it every year (which sounds like a real pain in the butt). Until now. Swedish firm PinPin Studio has plans to create new additions to the hotel, which will be cooled using solar energy (i.e. sustainable) and will remain open all year long. The project is expected to be completed by December 2016.
