Turin's Leafiest Apartment Complex Has Real Trees, Steel Trees, Lots and Lots of Trees

New, 1 comment

Architect Luciano Pia gave this five story apartment building in Turin, Italy a forest for a facade. Per Pia's description, 25 Verde is like the "houses children dream of" (when children dream of tree-covered houses). Each of the 63 units in the "living forest" features its own wide terrace with a couple of trees planted in large copper pots.

In total, 25 Verde has 150 trees planted on its terraces and 50 more in the building court yard, with more greenery on the rooftop garden. All that flora helps contribute to an ideal microclimate inside the units, with foliage blocking the sun in summer months and letting in more light in the winter.
