This Japanese Kindergarten is Way Cooler Than Yours Was

From a firm known for its inventive, playful spaces for kids comes this new kindergarten in the southwestern Japanese city of Nagasaki. Conceived by HIBINOSEKKEI in collaboration with its educational design branch Youji no Shiro, this multi-story hub for childhood education and general wonderment is certainly more exciting than your average kindergarten. Yes, the wood-floored, whitewashed-brick-walled interiors are spacious and light-filled and seem likely to stimulate the growing brains of the little future maestros, artists, and (of course) architects. But what induces real nostalgia in this Curbed editor is a rope gym that leads right up from a playroom onto a roof terrace with ocean views.
