London's building boom means the English capital isn't lacking in new opportunities for exciting and creative architecture. It makes reading through New London Architecture's annual shortlist of the city's best projects—which includes completed and proposed projects from the last 12 months—such a massive undertaking. It's no surprise newsmakers such as Thomas Heatherwick's controversial Garden Bridge proposal or the Tower of London poppy installation made the cut. But among the 137 projects selected are plenty of under-appreciated buildings that are worth a second look since they debuted.
