A German Company Built This Entire Tower to Test an Elevator

New, 2 comments

Not only did German company ThyssenKrupp build this entire 761-foot tower solely to test their new cable-free (the first in the world, they claim) elevator system, but it topped out in less than 10 months, using an "innovative slipforming technique." But as cool as the tower is, the elevator sounds way better, with cabs that can move not just vertically but horizontally, which means that an elevator shaft could feature mutiples cabs that could circulate throughout the building, making waiting for the elevator a thing of the past.
