Squished between two buildings, House 304 in Ho Chi Minh City may be constrained on its sides but it has no dearth of ventilation and light. With a site that's 40 feet in length but only 11 feet in width local firm Kientruc O had little arm length to work with—but what they couldn't achieve horizontally, they achieved vertically. Just look at the astounding lightwell that runs the full height of this four-story residence, flooding the core spaces towards the back with natural light.
A stepped, glass facade covers the front half of the house, giving this skinny building both spatial openness and intimacy. Meanwhile, tropical plants dot the curved edges of the lightwell as the front balconies of each receding floors.
