Europe knows a thing or two about masterfully melding the old and new in a home, and this dreamy first-floor apartment in a 16th-century palazzo in Sicily's Palermo is just further proof. The exceptionally high-ceilinged space, first spotted by design blog Dustjacket, is also marked by wood and concrete floors, french doors, ornate moulding, arched doorways, and original timber ceilings. Though there are more modern chairs, tables, and light fixtures, the whole place— full of faded imperfections and reclaimed materials—skews romantically vintage. And while we're no huge fans of having words on walls, an inspiring Eames quote in a gilded frame sure puts a neat spin on it.
