Cool Perforated Facade Lets Light into This Mod Aussie House

Architects across Australia continue to bring their collective A-game, with inventive extensions, additions, ground-up new-builds, and more. Now comes this house in Melbourne by local firm Austin Maynard Architects (fka Andrew Maynard Architects) with a perforated metal facade that, when backlit at night, looks almost like a fabric scrim stretched across the dwelling's frame. This novel cladding allows natural light into the long, narrow, two-story house and for passive solar gain to minimize energy consumption. Another innovative scheme deployed here is the in-floor storage for the clients, a young family. Take a look around.
