Selecting flooring is perhaps the least glamorous part of a renovation project, but it's a crucially important step. Floors, after all, provide foundational aesthetic character to a space and have to be able to take a serious beating, especially in areas of a home with high foot traffic, like entry halls, kitchens, and bathrooms.
This radiant, newly revamped 60-square-meter Paris apartment (about 645 square feet), renovated by local firm Septembre, is a font of inspiration on the flooring front. Incorporating three materials—concrete, wood, and tile—in a total of four styles, the floors help demarcate spaces in the open-plan apartment in the City of Light's 11th arrondissement.
