We get it—concrete isn't for everyone. But a well-designed concrete house, like this one masterminded by Buenos Aires, Argentina firm Estudio Besonias Almeida, could help convince even the most convicted skeptic.
Casa Berazategui (as it's known) with its L-shaped plan and open-plan interiors, is all planes: the flat surfaces of its roof and walls meet in a cacophony of 90-degree angles. This convergence is best seen by stepping between the indoor and outdoor boundaries of the living room and yard, which are separated by sliding glass. Broad windows abound all over the two-story residence, where clerestory windows also let natural light in. And timber accents throughout help provide some visual contrast to the heaviness of the concrete.
The common areas of the home, high-ceilinged and spacious, occupy the 'backbone' of the L-shaped footprint, while the more private bedrooms and bathrooms occupy the foot of the L.
