This house next to a lake in Sweden was built by architects Maartje Lammers and Boris Zeissler between 2000 and 2004 and, from what we could gather from the delightfully Google translated Elle Decor Sweden article in which is it featured, was designed to fold in on itself in order to comply with square footage restrictions—hence the name, Accordion House (or Dragspelshuset in Swedish). The living room, which "can thus switch between 45 and 72 square meters" is also "insulated with reindeer skins." Another great sentence from the article, which may have possibly lost something in translation, is: "It is from the pelvis as the house gets its water." The house is on the market for 3.5 million Swedish Krona (around $430,000) and is intended only as a summer home since it is not properly insulated for winter.
