A 1960s brick bungalow in Sydney's Belrose neighborhood is beautifully refreshed after a renovation by Aussie firm Bijl Architecture. To give the home a brighter, more open interior living space, the architects converted a front porch into an expanded living room and added a wraparound slatted wooden screen to let in natural light while acting as a buffer from the street (especially when the new sliding glass windows are retracted.)
The same slatted wooden screen idea repeats inside, where it manifests as a small-scale divider between the living room and kitchen. Other highlights? A fun geometric tile kitchen backsplash, clean-lined timber built-ins, and folding doors that open up to the large terrace in the backyard. See more photos at Dezeen.
