Iconic '70s mushroom lamp reissued in miniature form, vibrant colors

It was designed by Danish design master Verner Panton

We love a good reissue, especially if it’s from a certain swingin’ period of bold, colorful designs, like the Colombo Tube Chair from 1969. And as we see it, this mini version of Danish design powerhouse Verner Patton’s Panthella lamp from the same era would be a great complement to the modular sofa in your (fantasy) Milanese penthouse.

Louis Poulsen, the Danish lighting manufacturer, will be producing a new line of the playful, mushroom-like monochromatic lamp, but in miniature. Originally developed in 1971, the Panthella features a shade 400 millimeters (or about 16 inches) in diameter. (It is still available for purchase today as a table or floor lamp white.) The Panthella Mini will have a smaller shade measuring 250 millimeters, or about 10 inches, in diameter.

The metal Minis will be available in vibrant hues of yellow, orange, mauve, red, pink, blue, and green, while acrylic versions will come in white, black and opal. The colors were inspired by Panton’s last project, the "Light and Colour" exhibition at the Trapholt Museum of Modern Art in Kolding, Denmark, which featured eight rooms showcasing his use of color throughout his remarkable career as a furniture and interior designer.
