This intriguing house combines the architecture of a traditional farmhouse and an urban loft space in the affluent hamlet of Bridgehampton, Long Island. Designed by Brooklyn-based TA Dumbleton Architect (TADA), the 3,000-square-foot WE Guest House features an expansive open floor plan, a saltbox-style roof with skylights, double-height communal areas, and a completely glazed wall on the north elevation.
The master bedroom is located on the ground floor and boasts floor-to-ceilings that open right onto the manicured grounds, a fireplace, and standalone bathtub. A second bedroom occupies an attic-like loft space paneled in wood reclaimed from an old Brooklyn warehouse. Here, too, a triangular wall of windows flood the room with sunlight.
The sprawling property includes gardens, a swimming pool, outdoor shower, and barbecue pit. Impressively, the weekend retreat—done up with heavily insulated stucco exterior walls, steel casement windows, and radiant concrete flooring—was conceived and constructed in just eight months.
