WeWork’s first gym is pretty fancy

There’s a decadent, Roman-inspired salt bath

Coworking giant WeWork is branching out, opening coliving apartments and now its first permanent gym. Named Rise by We (not “WeWorkout,” sadly), the new gym at 85 Broad Street in Manhattan’s Financial District is open to both WeWork members and non-WeWork members.

Rise by We has everything you’d expect from a gym—areas for cardio, weight lifting, yoga—as well as nice additions, like a “Fight” room outfitted for boxing and mixed martial arts training.

The interior was designed by WeWork’s existing design team, overseen by the company’s head of interiors, Brittney Hart. The color palette is fairly muted, with a heavy reliance on black floors, equipment, and interior accents offset by cream details like banding on the punching bags and moody lighting. The space for private training sessions offers a jolt of green in the form of a fake-turf-covered floor.

The gym also contains a decadent “superspa” which maintains the cream-and-black color scheme while amping up the atmosphere. Stone walls add a luxe feel to the Roman-bath-inspired salt pool. There’s also a sauna and steam room.

The pricing is a little steep, but not outrageous for New York. An unlimited membership is currently $180 a month, but will likely increase with demand.
