New tiny house is a calming blank slate

Wisconsin-based purveyor of covetable tiny homes, Escape, has released another one of its mobile units, and this time, raw wood interiors and an exterior of Shou Sugi Ban, the Japanese technique of charred siding, take center stage.

Called, simply, One, the 276-square-foot trailer features a spare floor plan, sleeping loft, separate bathroom, and the flexibility to adapt the space for a number of uses. A large, central square picture window, glass entrance door with transom window, and clerestory glazing surrounding the loft allow sunlight—and the surrounding view—to pour right in.

On the first floor, an expansive area underneath the loft offers the possibility of a living area, office, library, or even bedroom. Take the stairs with a built-in closet and pull-out drawers up to the loft, where you can have an additional bedroom, or your very own lounge. Other efficient details like hooks and shelving are found throughout and can’t help but delight the inhabitant.

A small kitchen with pine cabinetry, under-counter refrigeration, solid butcher block countertops, and a hideaway sink and stove has everything you need to indulge your inner chef, while the bathroom is comfortably sized. Fully customizable with a plethora of options, Escape One is available for a base price of $49,800.
