Frank Lloyd Wright’s most famous buildings get paper model treatment in new book

Fold your way through the architect’s iconic works

Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s most famous architect, would have turned 150 this year, and some of us just can’t get enough. While few have the means to build full-scale replicas of Fallingwater or the Guggenheim Museum, almost anyone with an X-Acto knife can now construct paper models of 14 of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most iconic buildings.

The models come from a forthcoming book by “paper engineer” and artist Marc Hagan-Guirey, who guides readers through the step-by-step process of cutting and folding each model. Hagan-Guirey uses the techniques of Japanese kirigami—aka origami with scissors—to create remarkably detailed 3D miniatures. Some of the more intricate details, like the external ornament of the Hollyhock House have been pre-die-cut.

The instructions are paired with removable templates, photographs, drawings, and more information for each building.
