Location: East Sussex, England

Price: £1,950,000 ($2,533,000)

This award-winning house in Lewes in East Sussex in South East England has been lauded by RIBA and The Sunday Times. Designed by architect Sandy Rendel and completed in 2015, the contemporary home sits right on the banks of the River Ouse in the South Downs National Park, right beneath the Cliffe Hill.

Taking advantage of the dramatic setting are its glazed walls on three sides on the ground floor where an open-plan living area anchors the space, the large windows and vaulted ceilings on the floor above, as well as the yard and patio that offer outdoor living opportunities.

The blocky structure comprises several materials, including a concrete base wrapped in glass and a skin of weatherized steel that covers the facade of the upper floor in mesh screens and sheets on the roof. Inside, the interiors are sleek and minimalist, with dark lava stone making up the kitchen countertops, terrazzo on the floors, and light wood paneling accenting a few of the cupboards and walls in the common areas.

Upstairs, where the five bedrooms all face the river, the floors are hardwood in the hall and carpeted in the private accommodations while the three full baths have off-cut marble floors. Measuring a total of 261 square meters, or approximately 2,800 square feet, the property is offered at £1.95 million, or approximately $2.5 million.
