Summer-house season is winding down, but that won’t stop us from coveting well-designed ones well into fall. Case in point: This enviable second house by design studio Tham & Videgård Arkitekter, not far from central Stockholm.
Mixing classic materials (cedar cladding) with an exaggerated, modern, tent-like shape, the House on Krokholmen sits on one of the islands in the Stockholm archipelago, its form a nod to traditional architecture in the region. The distinctive, curving roof is clad in zinc, Dezeen reports, and its structure includes a steel girder, but, by and large, this is an all-timber affair. The wood theme carries on inside, where walls and high, peaked ceilings are lined in ash wood, contrasting with dark, polished-concrete floors.
