Fixer Upper is ending after season 5

Well, it’s official: The hit HGTV home-renovation show Fixer Upper will end after its fifth season, which begins airing on November 28. In a blog post published today, series stars Chip and Joanna Gaines announced that they’d be spending the freed up time to “shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses.”

Indeed, the Gaineses have done a lot since the first episode of Fixer Upper aired four years ago. In addition to transforming over 100 homes in Waco, Texas, (and proselytizing shiplap and the whole “modern farmhouse” aesthetic in the process), they’ve also grown Magnolia Market to encompass a physical flagship and home goods collections, and more recently, a 300-item home collaboration with Target, which will drop on November 5 and get refreshes every season for several years. That’s just one of the ways fans can expect to get more of the Gaineses outside of HGTV.

Their blog post teases:

Though our Fixer Upper chapter is coming to a close, we aren’t done with Waco. We aren’t done renovating homes. We aren’t done designing things to make your home your favorite place on earth. We aren’t done working towards restoration in all things or helping out those who could use a hand. In fact, in all of these of things, we are just getting started.
