17th-century Tuscan villa with world-famous gardens available to rent

Here’s an Italian villa for rent for those who were as taken with the setting of Call Me by Your Name as with the coming-of-age love story between protagonists Elio and Oliver.

Just like the summer residence in the 2017 film by Luca Guadagnino, this one dates back to the 17th-century, when the Roman-Baroque home was designed by architect Carlo Fontana and built by Cardinal Flavio Chigi for Pope Alexander VII (Chigi was the pope’s nephew). It even features a vaulted living room with an imposing walk-in fireplace reminiscent of the movie’s most memorable set pieces.

Similarities aside, Villa Cetinale, which is located in the Ancaiano district near Siena in Tuscany, is a showstopper in its own right. After a period of decay, it was recently restored and brought back to its former glory days by architect Bolko von Schweinichen and interior designer Camilla Guinness over the course of three years. With 13 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, spacious common areas, and supposedly one of the best gardens in all of Italy, Cetinale now combines original architecture with gorgeous contemporary touches.

And the best part is that it’s available to rent—provided you have 25,000 euros (about $31,000) to spare for a week. But with accommodations for up to 28 people, there might be a way to go in as a group.
