Luxury camper van offers a cool oasis for two

But because they are a bespoke outfitter, laying claim to an Outside Van hasn’t always been easy. First, you have to find the right van—not a small task thanks to the months-long waiting list for the popular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Then, it can take months to plan and build your custom van, and that’s true whether you go through Outside Van or one of the other well-known conversion companies.

To combat these challenges, Outside Van has started their Ascend Series: Prebuilt, one-off, purpose-built vans that are available for customers to purchase immediately. You won’t get to customize the van, but Outside Van includes proven layouts and features in each of the designs. The best part? The vans are available immediately, no waiting required.

The third van in their Ascend Series, Treeline is available for purchase now. Built on a 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170 chassis, It includes a removable three-person bench seat so you can still haul five people in seat belts, and easy-to-clean flooring. A small galley area features bamboo wood, a sink with glass top and fold down faucet, bamboo countertops with Avonite inlay, and an induction stove. Upper and lower cabinets and a refrigerator keep things organized.

Outside Van’s popular three-panel bed sleeps two comfortably, and more upper storage cubbies provide space for clothes. Stay cool—or warm—thanks to a 10-speed premium roof vent and a Webasto diesel heating system, and LED lights throughout make things feel less like a cave. Snap-in insulated curtains provide privacy, and a flush-mounted shower in the cargo area boasts a hot and cold valve.

Speaking of the rear garage area, it provides plenty of space for bikes, skis, or climbing gear. Door storage pockets, upgraded bumpers, and a 125-watt solar panel on a custom aluminum rack rounds out the amenities.

The Treeline costs $159,177 and this price includes both the van and the conversion. While pricey, it’s on par with the Winnebago Revel ($134,799) and cheaper than the Airstream Interstate ($165,878). It also gets you a custom-quality van immediately, which could be just the thing for anyone hoping to live the van life this fall.
