Lovers of midcentury modern homes know that there are two different types of midcentury real estate listings. The first are pristine time capsules, preserved gems that showcase both the architecture and style of a bygone era. The second are much more common; homes built in the 1950s and 60s with recent updates that incorporate a blend of both traditional midcentury styling and more modern amenities.

Take this four-bedroom, three-bath home in Roswell, Georgia, for example. At 2,873 square feet, the home boasts many of the trademark features of a midcentury home, including long horizontal lines and flat panes, large windows, and overhanging eaves.

Many of the windows look out onto a zen-like koi pond or a large patio, showing the home’s integration with nature and the surrounding national forest. But in other ways the home lacks midcentury elements, most notably the updated kitchen and bathrooms. That might only be a problem for purists, especially because the house also boasts a lovely enclosed sun room and cozy fireplace.

If you don’t mind the blend of eras and want to appreciate the home’s imminently livable qualities, 450 Riverside Road is on the market now for $624,888.
