If you’ve overindulged during the holidays, cleanse your palate with this four-bedroom, five-bath masterpiece from the Canadian architect Arthur Erickson. Designed in 1979 and constructed in the late 1980s, the 5,287-square-foot house was built for Hugo Eppich, co-founder of a Canadian fabrication company. Erickson designed most of the furnishings for the house, while Eppich’s company manufactured them.

The steel and glass house sits on a hillside location next to a creek, curving sinuously across three levels. Wood ceilings and chrome-like pillars make a statement inside with plenty of views thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. According to Erickson’s website, the main level includes the pool and recreation facilities and the lower level is the “children’s level.” The top floor is for adults and overlooks the enclosed swimming pool structure.

A creek on the south end of the property was diverted to create a reflecting pool for each terrace, and Erickson wanted the hard materials of the buildings to contrast with the softer interior finishes.
