258-square-foot micro apartment is fashioned like a hotel

Local practice Casa 100 Arquitetura designed this compact apartment in São Paulo for a 30-something man who travels frequently between São Paulo and Rio de Janiero, where he’s primarily based.

Because the owner only uses the flat to sleep, Casa 100 designed the home to be more like a hotel. It measures just 24 square meters, or about 258 square feet, but includes all the amenities one would require to live comfortably: full-sized bed, bathroom, kitchen counter, and wardrobe space. Sliding white perforated metal screens can be moved to change the feel of the flat.

There even appears to be outdoor space by way of a small balcony, a tiny lounge, and a desk—all illuminated by a wall of glass that allows natural light to flood the apartment. As for decor, the interiors are kept simple due to a limited budget (this is the client’s second property), but concrete details found throughout—polished concrete floors, an exposed concrete beam, a concrete wall, and a concrete kitchen counter—give it a little industrial edge.
