Massive modern home seen on ‘Grand Designs’ yours for $5M

A contemporary home featured on an episode of the popular British television show Grand Designs is back on the market in Horsham, West Sussex. Known as Pavello, it’s a massive work of contemporary architecture inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion and built on a 60-meter-long slab of concrete.

Steel, porcelain, granite, and glass characterize the 5,533-square-foot single-story residence, which at the time of airing in September 2015 was the show’s largest ever house. Designed by self-made businessman Clinton Dall for himself and his four children with Brighton-based architect Desmond Harvey and completed in 2015, the home is divided into two horizontal wings offset from one another.

A grid of gray porcelain tiles lays the groundwork for the vast interiors, which are clad in a wall of glass on the south side of the property, and white porcelain tiles on the north. A glazed entrance gives way to an enormous living area that also comprises kitchen and dining areas. A study, family room, gym, utility room, a bedroom, and bath are found on this side as well (with a double open bay garage outside).

In the west wing, four bedrooms, including the master suite, unfurl in a row, and each one features its own ensuite shower room and sliding glass walls that open directly onto the terrace and glittering pool. There’s also an impressive sauna and spa here. The grounds are equally compelling and are set on over five acres of private woodlands. It’s offered at 3.5 million British pounds, or about $4.9 million, after a price cut.
