Location: Piedmont, California

Price: $3,250,000

This time-capsule-like midcentury modern home in Piedmont, California, was designed in 1947 by Bay Area architect Clarence Mayhew for Dr. and Mrs. A. Reis and is on the market for the first time since 1960.

The bi-level rancher unfurls across 3,302 square feet on a “gently sloping promontory,” its flowing floorplan taking advantage of indoor-outdoor living by way of walls of glass that take in the property’s half-acre site. Expansive common areas are positioned toward the grassy backyard, which is characterized by brick terraces, stone walls, a koi pond, and natural landscaping.

As for the interiors, which appear to have been lightly refreshed over the years, there are three bedrooms and four full baths, an adorable period kitchen with original baby blue cabinetry, and the aforementioned living areas. Diagonally placed hardwood floors are found throughout, while handsome wood paneling and built-in shelving are found in many rooms, including in the main living area (surrounding the fireplace and accessed by a staircase hallway with windows on either side), a library-like study (also with a fireplace), and another office.

Located at 10 Crest Road, the home could be considered a fixer-upper—if it weren’t for its hefty price tag of $3.25 million. Have a look.
