Go-anywhere luxury camper can stay off the grid for weeks

EarthRoamer started in 1998 by building four-wheel drive campers and trucks with interiors that resemble high-end apartments more than your typical stodgy RV. We’ve reported on their $1.5 million XV-HD model in the past, and at the recent Overland Expo in Flagstaff, Arizona, we walked through the “smaller” EarthRoamer exhibition vehicle, the EarthRoamer XV-LTS.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way: This is a top-dollar camper. The LTS models start at $450,000, with a fully built out rig hovering around the $600,000 mark. That’s a lot more than most homes in the United States, so some might wonder why you’d want a camper with that price tag.

For the adventure-minded millionaire, however, the EarthRoamer XV-LTS could be just the thing. The camper is ready to go completely off the grid, fueled by 1,200 watts of solar power, large batteries, and without an ear-drum busting generator. It’s also ready to handle the toughest of terrain thanks to a 6.7L turbo diesel V8 engine, 4x4 Ford F-550 chassis, and air ride suspension.

EarthRoamer claims that the camper body is the strongest and most capable in the world thanks to a one-piece molded design. This type of design doesn’t use seams, meaning you won’t be left stranded in a rain storm with a leaky roof. Other outdoor amenities include an exterior kitchen, storage lockers to haul all of your gear, and a 16-foot electric awning.

Don’t be fooled by the burly exterior, however, EarthRoamer goes above and beyond with the interior. Custom wood and luxury finishes are the norm, as is the high-efficiency refrigerator, granite countertop kitchen, and ambient lighting. There’s dining room seating for six and beds for four people, which is good because the camper also comes with a special spot to hold your crystal wine glasses.

Throw in the optional entertainment package and you’ll be prepped for guests; you can add an HD satellite TV, Bose surround sound, and plenty of spots to charge your electronics. A heated bathroom with cassette toilet and mirror round out the interior amenities.

If you can scrounge up the change, the EarthRoamer XV-LTS just might be the nicest overland vehicle you can buy. For the rest us, it’s camper eye candy.
