Greenery camouflages this modern villa in Bali

Too pretty to hide

This house in Bali wears nature as a disguise. Designed by the architecture firm Word Of Mouth, Chameleon Villa is tucked into a forest in Bali’s southwestern coastal region.

Like other homes that blend in with their surroundings, this villa embraces the natural landscape as architectural inspiration. Vines and leaves drape off of the concrete facade, and floor to ceiling windows create a photo frame view of the surrounding flora.

Every part of the house seems to merge with nature, including an infinity pool that appears to drip into greenery. Meanwhile, bedrooms and bathrooms open onto the outdoors; one bathroom sports a skylight with a peek at the green roof.

The villa is perched on a steep slope that overlooks a 36-foot drop to a river below. This location allowed the architects to design a multi-level experience with the main house sitting on the edge of the ravine and stairs that lead down to the deck, pool, and bar-like lounge room.
