Location: Santa Theresa, Costa Rica

Price: $2,000,000

Summer holiday vibes got us pining for a dreamy getaway and how convenient is it that one of our favorite tropical modern homes is now on the market? If only there was an easy $2M somewhere to spare.

The Floating House, as its name suggests, is practically a treehouse, hovering amid the Costa Rican jungle with sweeping ocean views and quick access to Playa Hermosa on the country’s northern Pacific Coast. Designed by Costa Rican architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe, the nearly 3,000-square-foot home is the full expression of tropical indoor-outdoor living.

The house on stilts comprises a series of open living spaces, including three bedrooms, organized along elevated walkways that range from basically outdoors to a long corridor enclosed by bamboo on two sides. All the spaces, including the bathrooms, can be exposed to the elements. Of course, it wouldn’t be a dream holiday home without an infinity pool and deck, which are situated under one side of the house.

When we first came across the house a few years ago, it was listed for rent at $3,370 a week. Now it’s seeking $2 million on the sale market.
