The late architect Albert Ledner is probably best known for the National Maritime Union building, a modernist masterpiece in New York City whose windows looks like ship portholes. But Ledner was also a prolific designer of beautiful residential homes, many of which can be found in his hometown of New Orleans.

Among them is this three-bed, two-and-a-half-bath breezy ranch house that stretches out over 2,800 square feet. A wood-paneled entryway with vaulted ceilings introduces the home and leads into an open floorplan living room and kitchen.

The house trades off between white brick and wood panelled walls. The floors are a combination of western oak and travertine, which gives the house a sense of layered materiality.

Ledner designed the home in 1951, and in 2008 it underwent renovations to modernize some of its features including an updated kitchen. The well-proportioned house carries a serene vibe, which is only bolstered by the floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto a lush backyard and nearby park.

The property, located at 15 Swallow Street, was listed for $675,000 in September 2017 and is now back on the market for a bit cheaper at $625,000.
