Designed by Atelier 111 Architeckti, this pristine modern house was built on an old winding street in Prague, bringing a pop of modernity to a landscape of traditional stone buildings.
The architects replaced a dilapidated house with two new volumes tucked into the narrow road. As an ode to the original architecture, they topped it with red ceramic tiles and kept the original stone in the main entrance of the house. The rest of design is unabashedly modern.
Inside, the home unfolds in contrasting geometries—a soft spiraling staircase; a sharp vaulted ceiling—and warm, earthy hues. The living room sits under a dramatic wooden ceiling and is framed by large square windows. Meanwhile, the home library, a pale wood room with built-in shelves, is topped by a sheet of glass.
