While some big-name architects designed pricey homes in the 1950s and 1960s, there was another side to the midcentury modern style: affordability. Developers across the country built affordable, postwar homes that capitalized on homebuyers who were hungry for contemporary design.

It’s a bit ironic that today, many of these once affordable tract homes can now cost millions of dollars. It’s fun, therefore, to find midcentury homes on the market that are still relatively affordable, like this four-bedroom, two-bath home in Boise, Idaho. Boise has been booming lately, and this home in the Franklin Park neighborhood boasts the trademark stylings of its 1962 age.

Post-and-beam construction, clerestory windows, and an open floorplan welcome visitors to the home. A large fireplace is the focal point of the living room, and the dining area sits next to spacious windows that look out onto the yard. The kitchen boasts a bar area with room for two chairs, original cabinets, and an avocado-colored vintage fridge.

Other perks of the 1,973-square-foot house include wood floors, a flex space with a second living room, and a patio in the backyard. Love what you see? 6103 West Edgewater Drive is on the market for $349,900.
