Curbed covers historic homes aplenty in our House of the Day column, but every now and again a listing stops us in our tracks. Take this eight-bedroom, four-and-a-half bath home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Called the Baywood Mansion, the Highland Park home was constructed in 1880 by Alexander King, an Irish immigrant turned millionaire glass manufacturer.

A local family, Dr. Frank and Maura Brown, purchased the Second Empire-style home in 1994 and spent the last 25 years carefully renovating the red brick mansion’s sprawling 22 rooms.
