Boho-chic decor ideas to steal from an architect’s plant-filled home

From earthy woven planters to textured throw pillows

This week’s edition of House Calls takes us to Asheville, North Carolina, where architect Ross Smith and his wife Anna Welton created a contemporary home with ’70s flair.

The couple’s ever-growing collection of houseplants—many of which Welton purchased from greenhouse sales at Warren Wilson College, where she works as a program director—thrive in the home’s sunny atrium. The greenery, in fact, helped shape the verdant interior palette. “I had to balance my desire for a contemporary house and Anna’s desire for a plant-filled bohemian space,” Smith says.
