Like many Connecticut suburbs right now, the real-estate market in Wilton is on the upswing: By July, the Fairfield County town was seeing nearly double the number of potential closings compared to the same time last year.

But among a sea of mostly Colonial-style homes, 43 Evans Lane stands out — a 1965 mid-century modern designed by Charles Forberg, the co-designer of the Pan Am logo, designer of LongHouse in East Hampton, and son-in-law of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius. The boxy monochrome exterior is broken up by an A-frame-style peaked roof, a bright-blue door, and walls of glass. Inside, dark wood floors, ceilings, doors, and cabinetry contrast with mostly white walls and countertops. There’s indoor-outdoor living on both levels — upstairs, a large deck off the living room and screened-in porch by the kitchen and dining room; downstairs, a covered patio.

The house is one of only a few properties currently on the market in town with six bedrooms, and the whole property feels a bit like a compound; the house comes with a matching guesthouse with rental-income potential, a saltwater pool, and a pool cabana with changing rooms and a half-bath and sits on five woodland acres that backs up to a 400-acre preserve. Wilton’s town center is a five-minute drive away while neighboring New Canaan’s red-brick-paved downtown is also within a 15-minute drive.
