Welcome to Curbed’s Advent-calendar gift guide. Over the course of the next 25 days, we will be doling out, one by one, the gifts recommended by dozens of design bigwigs with extremely good taste. So keep checking in daily for new drops.
Sunnylife, an Australian brand dedicated to all things summer from beach balls shaped like the Greek eye to fringed umbrellas, recently released a line of classic games made in neon Lucite — including some lime-green Lucite dominoes, a poker set with Lucite chips, and this mini Lucite backgammon set. Designer Charlotte Stone was gifted this last year for her birthday and liked it so much it has become her go-to host or hostess gift.
“It is perfect to play with hot toddies on a cold night,” she says. (And it looks great on the coffee table between games, she adds. She keeps hers out in perpetuity in the living room.)
For a cheaper version, she likes the brand’s earlier collection of simple wooden games; the timber backgammon set is just $40. “There’s no branding — it’s just handsome,” she says.
