There is a smell near Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s mansion in the California neighborhood of Montecito, and the town’s residents are fed up. And what exactly is this odor? One local resident told the Mirror: “It smells like offal that has been rotting in the sun. It makes my stomach churn. I’ve seen lots of homeowners closing their windows when it wafts over.” It’s not the first bad smell, either. Last August, another person commented on the nearby cannabis factory: “I had to pull over. It made me completely lose my train of thought. Lots of people here are suffering.”
Apparently this most recent bad smell is coming from a bird refuge that is home to a stagnant saltwater marsh. (Birds, the royals of the animal kingdom.) The Daily Mail noted, in its report on the smell, that the couple has “remained silent,” maybe or maybe not about the smell, “despite news that Camilla will become Queen Consort when Charles is eventually made King.”
