How often do you come here?
About twice a week, mostly because it’s, like, five minutes from my grandmother’s house. I take her to the casino a lot because she’s the one who got me into it. She used to take me to Atlantic City all the time back when I was a little kid. My grandmother’s 82, and she likes to do her own thing. It’s so funny. She feels like if you’re watching her while she’s on the machine, you’re going to give her bad luck. So she’ll just take off. You think she’s over here, you turn around — she’s gone to a whole other side of the place. When she’s done, she’ll pick up her phone and call me and say either “I’m done” or “I won” and then I’ll go meet her at the cashier’s cage.

What do you do outside of work?

I’m president of a motorcycle club called State2State. I’m the only female. We’ve ridden since 2005 and gone as far as Charlotte. We got up at four on a Friday morning and just rolled. We’re not related by blood, but we’re family, united by union and loyalty.

Michele C. Reed

Where do you like to eat here?

Sugar Factory. I had their Chocolate Blackout: chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, sauce, chips, brownies, pearls, and sprinkles. You’re going to get me in trouble because everyone will be like, She’s a doctor?

Mike Roland

Shamain Sears

Andrew Gonzales

How did it go tonight?

I won a couple hundred dollars on the card games. I put up, like, $300, came out with $3,500. But hey, that’s more than what I  thought I was gonna get. That’s rent.

You live nearby?

Yes. I bought a house four blocks from my mom in South Ozone Park. My sister passed on 9/11. Life went on. I have my kids. And I couldn’t leave my mom. I figured, My God, I’m the only daughter now. Something happens to my mom, I have to drive 20 minutes? No.

Who are you here with?

My friend Andrew. His brother and I  work at the same auto group — that’s how we met. It was one of those friendships where we just instantly knew, instantly clicked. Almost like love at first sight but not as cheesy, you know.
